A farewell message for Padre David Thexeira

Stairway to heaven:

A man of few words, many have said
A priest who was as good as bread
Padre David had so much to give
Chosen by God, a meaningful life he lived

He carried out his priestly duties with dedication
In doing so, Padre David helped build healthy relations
He was dynamic whenever he preached at each mass
Padre David, your teachings in our hearts will forever last

As a priest, he had compassion for the sick and the poor
And whenever anyone saw him, he would help, that’s for sure
On earth, Padre David did the best he can
But God had, for this kind-hearted priest, another plan
For the Good Lord wants him to serve in the Holy Land

My wife and I fully understand the sadness of the family
For the tears in your eyes, we can clearly see
And as you come to terms with his loss,
I urge all his family members to be strong
We will pray for you during this difficult period
So that your sorrow does not remain long
Be comforted that Padre David is with Jesus
A special feeling that perhaps, only pleases

Sincerely,

Raymond Anthony Fernando

Father David..

I know you're safe up there with our heavenly Father now, but I can't stop worrying about you.

I hope you're free from pain and I hope you have met Jesus as Jesus will heal you forever.

Father David, I will always miss your homily on Sunday at St Francis Assisi. Please take care and continue to guide us to be good christian.

You have a special place in our hearts.

A Prayer ...

O God, our Father, we know that you are afflicted in all our afflictions; and in our sorrow we come to you today that you may give us the comfort which you alone can give...

Make us feel sure that in perfect wisdom, perfect love, and perfect power you are working ever for the best...

Make us rest assured that a Father's hand will never cause his child a needless tear...

Make us so sure of your love that we will be able to accept even that which we cannot understand...

Help us today to be thinking not of the darkness of death, but of the splendour of the life everlasting, forever in your presence and forever with you...

Help us still to face life with grace and gallantry; and help us to find courage to go on in the memory that the best tribute we can pay to our loved one is not the tribute of tears, but the constant memory that another has been added to the unseen cloud of witnesses who encompass us...

Comfort and uphold us, strengthen and support us, until we also come to the green pastures which are beside the still waters, and until we meet again those whom we have loved and lost a while. Amen
