What happened actually...

Father David Thexeira is known and loved by many.
He is a loving son to Rita and Lewis, elder brother to Michael, Christine and Robert, uncle to 7 nephews/nieces, friend to countless far and wide, unfortunately
he is lying in Mt Alvernia Hospital in critical condition!
He was flown back, on the 9th of Dec from Bangkok onboard an air ambulance
to seek neurological treatment from one of Singapore's renowned neurosurgeons, Associate Professor Doctor Keith Goh.

On the 2nd of December 2007,
Fr. David flew to Bangkok for a short stopover to visit some friends of the church, upon his arrival at Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport at approximately 1930hrs he felt dizzy and collapsed after clearing immigration.

He was subsequently taken to Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital for attention, at the hospital, he was still conscious and had told the attending doctor that he felt nauseous, blacked out then collapsed!

Upon wheeling to the treatment table for observation Fr.David began to vomit and shortly after collapsed once again only this time to fall into a deep coma that has lasted till now.

An emergency operation was carried out, to stop the massive bleeding in his brain due to a suspected aneurysm (bursting of blood vessel), in order to save his life.

His distraught mother and brother Michael immediately packed their bags and took the first flight out of Changi to be by his bedside and thus began a week long vigil of constant prayer for his recovery.Fr. David's sister Christine, spouse Roger, brother Robert and wife Jenny would also fly down to be by his side. What shock awaited them to see their beloved brother/bro-in-law, once a man of such stature and an imposing physical presence, now befallen with this unexpected near fatal condition, looking frail, helpless and a shadow of the man they remember.

We are now keeping vigil at Mt.Alvernia hospital hoping and praying that he survives the treatment and operations that will follow in the coming days.
We now look forward till the time he opens his eyes and sees all those who love and care for him by his bedside. Till then, he is under the capable hands of neurosurgeons Associcate Professor Doctor Keith Goh and Doctor Tang Kok Kee

Many a tears would have fallen and many a heart will be broken, but we will persevere and our faith will not be broken.

Fr.David's family wishes to thank all his parishioner's, relatives and friends for their constant prayers.

When Father first came to
St Francis of Assisi, we were all very afraid of him.
Over the months, I have realised that he is indeed very Christ-like.
We want you, Father, to wake up from your deep sleep and come back to us. I hope God answers the fervent prayers of the parishioners.
I believe that Father's speedy and full recovery will only be possible through our ardent prayers and most importantly, through the will of God. So please continue praying...

Father David, you are indeed a true Warrior of Christ. Show us the "fire in your belly" and wake up! I am waiting for your return.
I have the stocks! I also need my coffee and those long talks we have in your office.
Fight on, my friend! Wake up, our work is not done yet. We are way too young to be held back like this. Wake up brother, and let's finish what you have started in Boon Lay.

Dearest Fr David,
May God bless you and guide you,
May God protect you and heal you.
You have been an inspiration to all,
and it is great to have you by our side in Holy Spirit.
Like the Star of David, Fr David has always been like a star for us, guiding us closer to God.
I really enjoy his company, and he has indeed, inspired many boys like me, in the altar servers of Holy Spirit, to follow in his footsteps.
GO FR DAVID!!!

Padre my friend, writing like this helps me and a lot of folks out there ease the pain. Pain, as you mentioned is part and parcel of the Christian life!
Look at all the people who have been streaming to your side to see you and pray for you. How can you not hear us? Your subconscious hears us. You just have to find the strength from within to open your eyes and awake from your slumber. I beg my dear Saviour to exalt Padre David through the miracle of his awakening from this sleep!
Remember bro, too much work to be done at Boon Lay which I cannot do on my own. Get up and help me!

Whispering Hope
Soft as the voice of an angel,
breathing a lesson unheard,
hope with a gentle persuasion,
whispers a comforting word.
Wait till the darkness is over,
wait till the tempest is done,
hope for the sunshine tomorrow,
after the shower is gone...

Whispering Hope, Oh How gentle thy voice,
Making my heart in its sorrow rejoice>

All you prayer warriors out there, I ask you to join me in prayers for God's healing power to descend on Fr David who is now critically ill in Mt Alvernia hospital and that he will wake up and be whole again.

May the peace of God and the freshness of the Holy Spirit rest in the thoughts of his dear family members and conquer all their fears. May God manifest Himself today in ways that we will never understand and that all our prayers be answered.

Fr David has touched and transformed many people's lives and we thank God for sending him to us in Boon Lay at St.Francis of Asissi Church. I pray to Lord for his mercy and to answer all our prayers so that Fr David can be healed and be back with us again so that we can carry on our journey with him in our spiritual faith. Oh Lord, graciously hear us...Amen Elizabeth

Although I do not know Fr David personally but I now feel so close after seeing you in this blog. Maybe we are all one in Christ. May God be with you while you take a good nap but remember we are all waiting to see you awake again, to pray with us again as I believe your spiritual mission on earth is not over yet. Oh God, have mercy on us and please let Fr David continue his spiritual faith with us without suffering. Amen Chaery

May the Almighty Lord place His healing hands upon His son, Fr David and grant him a speedy recovery. I believe with God, all things are possible.

Fr David, it is your strong spiritual faith & speech that bring me back to St.Francis of Asissi Church. I hope to see you stand strong & well to serve as the Presider for the Sunday Mass soon.

I join in the prayer of thanks to God for bringing you to us in SFA, Father..

I don't intend to be mean. If Fr David is indeed suffering now, and even if he does come round but with severe complications, it might be a better thing for him to return to God. Returning to God is not as bad it seems, after all, that is what everyone is supposed to prepare for right? In any case trust in God.

I am deeply saddened to hear the news about the passing of our dear Fr David last night. May he rest in peace. Oh Lord, grant Fr David eternal rest and let your Perpetual Light shine upon him.

My dear brothers and sisters, please continue to pray for his soul and also for comfort and peace to be upon his family during this difficult time.

He was the bright shinning star that was sent by our Lord to SFA and I will definitely miss seeing him around.

Let's be consoled that Fr David is now rejoicing in the eternal kingdom of our Father as he suffers no more.
